On the convergence of perturbative coupled cluster triples expansions:Error cancellations in the CCSD(T) model and the importance of amplitude relaxa…

2015

Recently, we proposed a novel Lagrangian-based perturbation series-the CCSD(T-n) series-which systematically corrects the coupled cluster singles and doubles (CCSD) energy in orders of the Møller-Plesset fluctuation potential for effects due to triple excitations. In the present study, we report numerical results for the CCSD(T-n) series up through fourth order which show the predicted convergence trend throughout the series towards the energy of its target, the coupled cluster singles, doubles, and triples (CCSDT) model. Since effects due to the relaxation of the CCSD singles and doubles amplitudes enter the CCSD(T-n) series at fourth order (the CCSD(T-4) model), we are able to separate th…

Current Predictive Resting Metabolic Rate Equations Are Not Sufficient to Determine Proper Resting Energy Expenditure in Olympic Young Adult National…

2021

Predictive resting metabolic rate (RMR) equations are widely used to determine athletes’ resting energy expenditure (REE). However, it remains unclear whether these predictive RMR equations accurately predict REE in the athletic populations. The purpose of the study was to compare 12 prediction equations (Harris-Benedict, Mifflin, Schofield, Cunningham, Owen, Liu’s, De Lorenzo) with measured RMR in Turkish national team athletes and sedentary controls. A total of 97 participants, 49 athletes (24 females, 25 males), and 48 sedentary (28 females, 20 males), were recruited from Turkey National Olympic Teams at the Ministry of Youth and Sports. RMR was measured using a Fitmate GS (Cosmed, Italy…

The BFMNU method as an alternative to the methods in use based on energy: study of the correlation between food energy and body mass

2018

Abstract Introduction: to establish slimming guidelines and any other changing treatments is useful to know the individual's energy expenditure due to the fact that, nowadays, the incidence of many diseases related to the loss of lean mass and the accumulation of adipose tissue has increased. The dietary treatments are carried out on calculating the energy contained in food, and then put in relation to the total energy expended by the body in order to produce changes in body mass. Objective: the aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between the food energy and body mass of different subjects in various pathophysiological conditions. Methods: one hundred and twenty subjects (male…

High resolution 80Se(n,γ) cross section measurement at CERN n_TOF and development of the novel i-TED detection system

2022

Study ofe+e−→pp¯via initial-state radiation atBABAR

2013

The e{sup +}e{sup -}{yields}pp cross section is determined over a range of pp masses, from threshold to 4.5 GeV/c{sup 2}, by studying the e{sup +}e{sup -}{yields}pp{gamma} process. The data set corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 232 fb{sup -1}, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage ring, at an e{sup +}e{sup -} center-of-mass energy of 10.6 GeV. The mass dependence of the ratio of electric and magnetic form factors, G{sub E}/G{sub M}, is measured for pp masses below 3 GeV/c{sup 2}; its value is found to be significantly larger than 1 for masses up to 2.2 GeV/c{sup 2}. We also measure J/{psi}{yields}pp and {psi}(2S){yields}pp branching fractions and set an upper limi…

Association between Intake of Energy and Macronutrients and Memory Impairment Severity in US Older Adults, National Health and Nutrition Examination …

2020

Without a cure, dementia affects about 50 million people worldwide. Understanding the effects of dietary habits, a key lifestyle behavior, on memory impairment is critical to inform early behavioral modification to delay further memory loss and progression to dementia. We examined the associations of total energy intake and energy intake from macronutrients with memory impairment among older US adults using data from the nationally representative National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey study 2011&ndash

Exploring the stability of super heavy elements: First Measurement of the Fission Barrier of $^{254} $No

2013

The gamma-ray multiplicity and total energy emitted by the heavy nucleus 254No have been measured at 2 different beam energies. From these measurements, the initial distributions of spin I and excitation energy E * of 254No were constructed. The distributions display a saturation in excitation energy, which allows a direct determination of the fission barrier. 254No is the heaviest shell-stabilized nucleus with a measured fission barrier. © Owned by the authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2014.

Data-Driven Clustering Approach to Derive Taste Perception Profiles from Sweet, Salt, Sour, Bitter, and Umami Perception Scores: An Illustration amon…

2021

BACKGROUND Current approaches to studying relations between taste perception and diet quality typically consider each taste-sweet, salt, sour, bitter, umami-separately or aggregately, as total taste scores. Consistent with studying dietary patterns rather than single foods or total energy, an additional approach may be to study all 5 tastes collectively as "taste perception profiles." OBJECTIVE We developed a data-driven clustering approach to derive taste perception profiles from taste perception scores and examined whether profiles outperformed total taste scores for capturing individual variability in taste perception. METHODS The cohort included 367 community-dwelling adults [55-75 y; 5…

Nonequilibrium Green's function approach to strongly correlated few-electron quantum dots

2009

The effect of electron-electron scattering on the equilibrium properties of few-electron quantum dots is investigated by means of nonequilibrium Green's function theory. The ground and equilibrium states are self-consistently computed from the Matsubara (imaginary time) Green's function for the spatially inhomogeneous quantum dot system whose constituent charge carriers are treated as spin-polarized. To include correlations, the Dyson equation is solved, starting from a Hartree-Fock reference state, within a conserving (second-order) self-energy approximation where direct and exchange contributions to the electron-electron interaction are included on the same footing. We present results for…
